Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions explain purchases made directly through the Stearns Brook Press website and the use of our website materials. Stearns Brook Press is an independent press based in Milan, New Hampshire, United States. For questions, email hello@stearnsbrookpress.com.

1. Book Listings, Prices, and Availability

Read the product listing before ordering. Titles may be offered in different formats or editions, and a signature or personalization option applies only when specifically offered. Announcing a forthcoming book does not make it available for immediate purchase or create a preorder.

Prices are stated in U.S. dollars unless indicated otherwise. Shipping and any applicable tax are shown before payment. Prices and offers may change for future purchases. If an error in price, description, or stock prevents us from fulfilling an order as placed, we will contact you about the available options and refund any amount due for canceled, unfulfilled items.

2. Orders and Payment

Please provide accurate contact, delivery, and personalization details. Payment methods available for the order are displayed at checkout. Do not send card numbers or other sensitive financial information through email or our inquiry forms.

Order emails record the details and status of your purchase. If you do not receive an expected confirmation, or notice an error, contact us with the email address used for the order. We may need to clarify missing information before we can dispatch your books.

3. Shipping and Fulfillment

Direct-store physical orders are limited to United States addresses accepted by checkout. USPS shipping is calculated separately from book prices, with no separate packing or handling surcharge. Available services depend on the contents of your order and the destination. Media Mail may be used only for eligible shipments.

In-stock books packed by Stearns Brook Press normally dispatch within 3–5 business days after payment and receipt of necessary order details, unless a different dispatch window is stated before purchase. Carrier transit time is additional. See Shipping & Delivery for details.

Larger orders or printer-direct arrangements require a confirmed quote covering fulfillment, timing, shipping, and any separate shipments before approval. If we cannot meet a stated dispatch window, we will notify you and offer the choice to accept the delay or cancel unshipped merchandise for a prompt refund.

4. Signed and Personalized Editions

Eligible editions offer an author signature at no additional charge. Personalization requests must use the options offered for that edition. Please check recipient names and spelling carefully. Contact us promptly about a change; changes may not be possible after inscription begins.

Personalized books are final sale for changes of mind once inscribed. Books with only the author’s signature remain eligible for the standard return window. Damage, defects, fulfillment mistakes, and inscription errors made by us are handled under the Refund and Returns Policy.

5. Cancellations, Returns, and Refunds

You may request cancellation of a standard book order before dispatch, or a personalized order before inscription begins. After shipment, eligible books without a personal dedication may be returned by requesting authorization within 30 days after delivery, provided they are unread and undamaged.

For a change-of-mind return, the customer pays return postage and original shipping is not refunded unless required by law. We do not charge a restocking fee. We cover return shipping we require for damage, a defect, or our fulfillment error. Approved refunds go to the original payment method. 6. Digital Products, When Offered

A digital product listing will identify the format and delivery or access method before purchase. Unless a different license is expressly provided, purchased files are for your own personal use. Purchasing a copy does not transfer copyright or permission to upload, redistribute, resell, or reproduce it for others.

Change-of-mind refunds are not available after a digital file has been accessed or downloaded, except where applicable law requires otherwise. Contact us about delivery, duplicate-purchase, file, or access problems so we can review and resolve them.

7. Website Materials and Permissions

Books, excerpts, cover art, photographs, website text, and other materials belong to their respective rights holders. Uses permitted by law remain permitted. For other uses, obtain permission from the relevant rights holder. Press materials may be used within the permission stated with those materials; availability for download does not grant unlimited reuse.

Please do not interfere with website operation, attempt unauthorized access, or use our forms to submit unlawful or infringing material. A contact inquiry, unsolicited manuscript, or review-copy request does not create a publishing agreement or guarantee acceptance. Any publishing or rights arrangement requires a separate agreement.

8. External Retailers and Affiliate Links

Purchases made through Amazon or another external retailer are transactions with that seller and follow its prices, payment, delivery, and return terms. Some links contain affiliate identifiers. As an Amazon Associate, Erica R. Buteau earns from qualifying purchases.

9. Privacy and Assistance

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle website, inquiry, and order information. For help accessing website information, choosing a format, or resolving an order problem, email hello@stearnsbrookpress.com.

10. Updates and Consumer Rights

We may update these terms for future use and purchases. The terms and order information provided when you purchase apply to that transaction unless you agree otherwise or applicable law requires a change. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded.
