Full Biography
Erica R. Buteau is an author, public historian, and founder of Stearns Brook Press, an independent publisher based in Milan, New Hampshire. Her writing ranges from romantic suspense and mysteries to historical true crime, memoir, practical nonfiction, and children’s stories. Much of it begins with a question: What does a place remember, and what have the people who lived there left unsaid?
Her Androscoggin After Dark romantic suspense series follows the secrets and relationships of fictional characters in northern New Hampshire, with familiar rivers, roads, and towns woven into the stories. Her historical crime research draws on court records, newspapers, and other archives, weighing conflicting accounts rather than forcing tidy conclusions. In nonfiction, she writes about caregiving, loss, and the practical demands of uncertain times.
Erica earned a Master of Arts in Public History and a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice. She has worked in research, public relations, and analytics since 2011 and serves as an Emergency Medical Responder. Outside her writing and publishing work, life at her family’s North Country farm offers its own steady source of stories. She founded Stearns Brook Press to give books across genres a carefully made publishing home.
